    Jawajames, Daytime Television Star

As part of the promotion of the SUPERCOLOSSAL FAN RACE, I did a quick interview on "San Diego Living", a daily morning show on the local Fox 6 (soon to be a CW affiliate) station. I even had the hosts solve some special clues just for them around their set. Everything went great except a little typo on the informational slide - the race is Thursday, July 24 not Thursday, July 27. oops!

hopefully, once i get a copy of the video clips we can put them up on the Rocket Race site...

and remember, the Supercolossal Fan Race:
Clue Solving Puzzle Race around Downtown San Diego
This Thursday July 24,- 7 pm
South End of the Convention Center
$20 entry fee for team of two
    First Place Prize: $200

    Hail!
Last night, tooth-sized hail pelted the roof and windows last night, some collecting on the porch, It rained so much that the water in the creek was all the way up to the bottom of the bridge, and I wondered if it was going to come over the rock wall. It didn't, and I am now the proud owner of a soccer ball that drifted into the yard. Roanan barked at it when he went outside, so we're safe.

    Current Mood: good

    Ugh
So Tuesday I woke up with some stomach virus thingy. Not pleasant. I haven't been able to keep any food/water in me for the last 36+ hours. I hope no one else has experienced this. It is completely not pleasant. Trying to work in between trips to the loo every 20 minutes... plus this constant dehydration headache. Bleh.

Beesh took me to the urgent care this morning and they pumped me with an IV of fluid and nausea medicine. It got rid of the headache for a while, but I'm still not over this thing. I had a bowl of soup yesterday and some teddy grahams today. That's it. I want to be back to normal so I can take my daily work beating from outside the bathroom.

    the weekend that was...
so it's been a while since i've logged what i did this weekend:

    here it is. go:

Friday night: farewell dinner for [info]ckillian and [info]kmkillian as they depart from San Diego to points east. Chevy's. margarita happy hour. good food. going to miss you guys!
(randomly ran into Lloyd and Amber at the happy hour there!)
then stopped briefly by Bryan & Erin's gig at the coffeehouse near their place. caught the last two or three songs. nice!

    Saturday:
started putting the house back together after the carpet cleaning on Friday morning. put up the clues and finished posting the race results from the UC Photo Race on the 4th of July
maybe we'll see some of those racers at the Supercolossal Fan Race!
then went to Giovanni's for the monthly San Diego Fan Force meeting. apparently i need a new comedy writer! got our club's prize baskets put together for Comic-Con.
then we went with Charlene and Roland to see "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" - lots of fun!

    Sunday:
continued putting the house back together - guests coming for BBQ that evening!
did some shopping, started our Korean BBQ marinade, went to church, then got the house ready for the monthly cooking club. this month's theme is BBQ. we had a huge variety of grilled stuff - pork/apple skewers, lemon pepper chicken, shrimp/mango skewers, hot wings, and more. and strawberry pie for dessert. and we played bocce. then we watched the new Futurama DVD that Matt brought over: "The Beast with a Billion Backs"

there it is. so i won't forget.

    Up early
Coming back from a week of vacation from work and pretty much everything.

I spent a week at the beach with my loving wife, father and step-mom, her parents and brother. It was a good time. I slept in every day, ate quality home-cooked food, did a little shopping and beach house repair and mainly relaxed. Played some Mario Kart on the Wii, Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings on the DS and PuzzleQuest on the PC. We watched a few DVDs of the Planet Earth series. Neat series. Swam some, drank some, had numerous deserts.

Now I'm back to the working world and the stress that it brings. Went to bed at 2 AM last night and got up at 6 AM. Mind is racing and can't shut it off. I'd been getting up around 10-11 AM all week so I knew I would have trouble today, but ugh... I was hoping for more than 4 hours of troubled rest. I'm already yawning, but that may just be from looking at work email.

Was flipping through LJ a little this morning and realized how much I've missed. I'm probably a month behind on LJ, I'm 400 emails behind on my work account, 50-70 behind on gmail and then there's all the things that I just seem to not do anymore... I used to peruse Slashdot periodically, Giants in the Playground, and a few other web comics. I still pull up the recent page, then realize I'm so far behind and I shut it down again. Not sure what changed, but time seems to be my enemy.

I blame work. It's been non-stop since... January? Not sure. I *tried* to give my co-workers some info before I left. However there are 20-30 issues I'm actively working and it would take many days to cover all the issues in detail. So I skimmed through the top 10-15 and hoped for the best. (Not to mention that I'm a week or more behind myself.) Looks like they got the brunt of it while I was gone. Requests for frequent status updates from the customer on issues they were clueless about. In some ways I'm glad. It's good that they realize how craptastic the customer I have is and appreciate the fact that I'm swamped. Unfortunately there are no good solutions to the problem.

I'm getting an intern soon I think though. It's good that I'll be able to sluff some work off onto a lackey. It's bad because I'll have to train said lackey which will consume more of my time. I'm not sure how this will work yet. I have a feeling the customer will keep laying it on thick and this will end up making me even more stressed. We'll see.

I'm not excited about going back to work.

    Current Mood: apathetic
